We love birthdays around here!! Like really love them. My mom always made a big deal about our birthdays when we were younger so when she passed away I used birthdays as a way to remember her life in ours. I don't know about you but I actually love watching people's pictures on social media about "Elf on the Shelf" during Christmas time. I loved watching the parents involvement with making their kids laugh and the ideas of what this little elf could do. We do not do Santa or anything related for Christmas but I did love the parent/child interaction that the "Elf on the Shelf" brought. So we incorporated that in our children's birthdays. We start 7 days before. We use a superhero for Liam and a giraffe for Isla. We hide their item around the house. Sometimes it is doing something funny or sometimes it may leave a little treat, along with a sign counting down the number until their birthday.
